Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has often found himself at the center of controversies, with critics accusing him of using his influence to destroy careers in the film industry. Recently, the actor directly addressed these long-standing allegations during the Weekend Ka Vaar episode of Bigg Boss.
Salman Responds to Career-Damaging Allegations
When Shehnaaz Gill appeared on the stage and thanked Salman for supporting many people in the industry, saying, “Sir, you have built so many careers,” the actor quickly interrupted her. He responded:
“I have not built anyone’s career. Careers are made only by God.”
Salman went on to tackle the rumors more directly:
“People have accused me of destroying careers too. But ending someone’s career is not in my hands. These days, people say, ‘Salman will eat up your career.’ Tell me, whose career have I eaten? And if I ever had to eat one, I’d rather eat my own career.”
Acknowledging his own struggles, the actor added that sometimes he does lose focus, but he always pulls himself back and works hard again.
The Abhinav Kashyap Allegations
Salman’s remarks come at a time when director Abhinav Kashyap — who worked with him on Dabangg — leveled serious charges against the star. Speaking in an interview, Kashyap claimed:
- “Salman is never truly involved in work. He has had no real interest in acting for the last 25 years. He just shows up as if he’s doing a favor. He enjoys the power of being a celebrity, but acting doesn’t interest him. He behaves like a bully.”
Kashyap further described Salman as “arrogant” and “vindictive,” adding:
“Salman Khan is like the father of Bollywood’s star system. He comes from a film family that has ruled the industry for over 50 years. They thrive on a culture of revenge and control. If you don’t play by their rules, they come after you.”
Background
The director’s remarks reignited debates in Bollywood about the dominance of powerful families, favoritism, and the struggles faced by independent filmmakers. Salman, meanwhile, appears to be brushing aside the criticism, making it clear that he neither claims credit for anyone’s success nor accepts blame for their failures.
